Review of The Winner's Curse

I really enjoyed this book! :D It was so good! I just loved the plot line and the characters, especially Kestrel in the fact that she wasn't perfect when it came to fighting.
One thing that annoyed me straight away was how she fell in love with Arin. I don't even need to put that in spoilers because it's that obvious. But one thing that shocked me was that Arin stayed true to himself no matter what happened with Kestrel. I liked that.
Another thing I didn't like was THE ENDING!!! I mean, come on!!!!! Don't leave me with a cliffhanger like that! I need the next book!
Overall I loved this book. I read 210 pages in one day. This book got me out of my reading slump. I hope other people enjoy it as much as I did! :D

Review of The Waking Dreamer

The Waking Dreamer by J.E. Alexander
Series: The Waking Dreamer
Title: The Waking Dreamer
Author: J.E. Alexander
Page Count: 343
First sentence: Under a moonless sky distended with December rain, the well-dressed young couple passed boarded-up storefronts and broken windows; an amber-eyes little girl skipped between them, laughing gleefully at the serpent wrapped in her long hair.

My Review
I really enjoyed this book! I'm glad that I read it in 3 days, because I have other Netgalley books to get read. I loved this book's amount of suspense, action and character development.
My favourite part was when Emmet got through to the Archivist via her Attendant at the end. It made me happy and it wasn't too abrupt and perfect.
One thing I don't like about this book is that sometimes I thought it had too much detail, and some sentences I had to read a few times over to understand them because they were really long.
I like how, in this book, things didn't just randomly happen; they happened with thought and reason. I also like J.E. Alexander's writing style and his description and eye for detail.
I recommend this book to everyone! :D It was fantastic and there was not a slow part in it! :D
I rate this book 5/5!

Review of Released

Released by Mia Fox
Series: Romani Realms
Title: Released
Author: Mia Fox
Page Count: 315
First sentence: Sometimes one must take drastic measure when their own survival is at stake.

My Review
Released is a fantasy novel.
I read this book because my friend was reading it and I wanted to read it with her.
The main plot is for the main character, Suki, to understand why her Releasors had Released her, and also to stop her enemies, Raven and Phineas, from getting what they wanted.
I liked Suki because she's really protective and is a Genie. She got along really well with the other characters in the book, and didn't keep her past secret. I didn't like Suki because she always believed she knew better, and I felt she pushed things upon her Releasors really fast.
I liked this book because it was an idea I hadn't thought about before; Genies and their Releasors. I also liked it because there was just the right hint of mystery and romance. I didn't like it because Suki's Releasors accepted her story and the fact that she was a Genie really easily. There could have been a bit more resistance.
This book is going to be published this year. I got it from Netgalley so it's not been published yet.
Overall, I recommend this book for fans of fantasy and fast-paced books.
I give it a 4/5.

Review of Aberrant

Aberrant by Ruth Silver
Series: Aberrant
Title: Aberrant
Author: Ruth Silver
Page Count: 212
First sentence: My fingers gripped the metal chain as my feet kicked higher.

My Review
Aberrant is a YA dystopian novel with a sub-plot of romance.
I read this book because my friend was reading it and I wanted to read it with her.
The main plot in the book is for the main character, Olivia, and her best friend, Joshua, to not get caught by the government. Olivia is the last woman of her kind, and Joshua is with her to protect her.
I liked Olivia because even though she was thrown into the middle of things she really didn't understand, she learnt to adapt and to cope. At the start of the novel, she had no idea what was different about her, but she learns what that means when something terrible happens. I also like her because she's really protective and loyal to her friends, and isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks. I don't like Olivia because she's a little too outgoing, and I think she doesn't feel enough shock at the events that have changed her life.
I liked this book because it was really engaging and quite a short read, which I relished when I was reading it. I enjoyed the whole storyline and didn't even sense a single boring bit. One of the things I didn't like about the book was that the ending was slightly confusing, about how everyone was in on the plan. But it does leave room for the second book to explain some things.
This book is going to be published this year. I got it from Netgalley so it's not been published yet.
Overall, I recommend this book for fans of Matched, Divergent and The Hunger Games. It has slight elements of all books in it.
I give it a 4.5/5.

Review of Sia

Sia by Josh Grayson
Title: Sia
Author: Josh Grayson
Page Count: 209 (although this is subject to change)
First sentence: Wake up! A tiny, annoying tickle on my face.

My Review
Sia is a realistic romance book. It shows that anyone can change.
I read this book because the cover looks intriguing and emotional.
The main plot in the book is for the main character, Sia, to try to change her whole life after being diagnosed with Fugue Amnesia, which means that Sia has lost all of her memories. She doesn't remember anything about her own life - not even her name or her city.
I liked Sia because she had so much hope all the time, but it was also the hope that made me dislike her. It's not possible for someone to care so little about what everyone thinks, and to change her life in a few weeks. I liked her because she believed in herself and in others, but I disliked her because she was slightly too perfect. I try to think about something I didn't like, but I can find no flaws at all. She's just the perfect person, which is annoying in itself.
I liked this book because it was an easy read, and because the short chapters meant that I read it faster. I liked it how Sia stood up for herself when things didn't go her way, and she let everyone know that she didn't care. I didn't like the book because it was boring for me and there wasn't a detailed plot.
The book is going to be published this year. I got my copy from Netgalley, so it's not been published yet.
Overall, I recommend this book for people who don't like to read that much, and for those who like happy endings and everything turning out perfectly.
I give it a 2/5.

Review of Endless

Endless by Amanda Gray
Title: Endless
Author: Amanda Gray
Page count: 384
First sentence: The Ouija board was a bad idea.

My ReviewEndless is a fantasy/sci-fi/romance book. It shows that love lasts forever and soulmates will always find each other.
The reason I read this book is because I had just gotten an account on Netgalley so I decided to choose a book that I could automatically get. The cover is amazing and makes the book look so delicate and beautiful.
The main plot is for Jenny to uncover the secrets of a mysterious music box found in her friend Ben's attic. Through the music box she comes to find out about her soul-mate, where he comes from, and what her role in the past was.
I liked Jenny because she's really straight-up with everyone and she trusts Ben from the start, even though he didn't like her. I like how she's kind to her dad and how she's helpful and loyal to Tiffany. I didn't like Jenny because she never thought about how Ben felt before she found Nikolai, and she just expected everyone to help her keep Nikolai safe.
I liked this book because it has a touch of the supernatural in it, and because the romance was sweet. I also liked it because Ben and Jenny didn't end up together, although there was a love triangle. I didn't like it because it was obvious there was going to be some instant romance, which was stereotypical, and it was obvious that Ben was going to have some feelings. I didn't like how Ben and Jenny don't get along at the start, but how they're best friends at the end. It just really annoyed me because that's what usually happens, and I like unusual shocking things to happen that don't usually happen.
The book is going to be published this year. It's from Netgalley so it's not yet published.
Overall, I recommend this book to people who want an interesting romantic read, with also a bit of cliffhangers.
I give it a 4/5.

Review of Thirteen Reasons Why

Details about the book:
Title: Thirteen Reasons Why
Author: Jay Asher
Page count: 288
First sentence: "Sir?" she repeats.

My Review
Thirteen Reasons Why is a realistic suicide book. Every little thing a person does counts.
The reason I read this book is because everyone is reading it at the moment, and I've been meaning to for a while.
The main plot is for Clay, the main character, to find out why Hannah Baker killed herself, through some tapes she left.
I liked the main character because he didn't let the little things bothered him, but allowed the big things to hit hard, not to push them down. I didn't like him because he didn't do enough to keep Hannah, to be with her.
I liked this book because I've never read anything like it, and I liked it because of the way it was written. I didn't like it because it's a sensitive topic for me at the moment.
The book was published in 2007.
Overall, I recommend this book for those of you who enjoy light easy reads, but quite serious topics.
I give it a 4/5.
